Investcorp, a leading global alternative investment firm, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (“MOU”) with Singapore Gulf Bank (“SGB”), a digital bank licensed and regulated as a conventional wholesale bank by the Central Bank of Bahrain, to explore strategic collaboration across banking services, investment product distribution and digital wealth management.
The MOU reflects both firms’ commitment to strengthening financial connectivity between the Gulf and Asia. It provides a framework to explore how Investcorp’s global investment expertise and established presence across Asia with SGB’s digital banking capabilities could connect global investors with opportunities across both firms’ ecosystems. The proposed collaboration could also broaden the investment offering available to SGB’s private banking clients through access to Investcorp’s products.
Under the MOU, the two firms will explore opportunities across key areas, including the provision by SGB of banking, payment and settlement services to support investments in Investcorp’s products; the potential distribution of Investcorp’s solutions to SGB clients across private equity, real assets, credit, and liquid strategies; and the potential integration of digital banking and payment capabilities with Investcorp Wealth, the firm’s award-winning proprietary digital investment platform, to enhance the client experience.
The proposed collaboration builds on Investcorp’s longstanding presence in Asia, which began with the opening of its first regional office in Singapore in 2017. Today, Investcorp has a presence across key Asian markets, including India, China and Japan, with approximately US$9 billion in assets under management for clients based in Asia. This presence reflects Investcorp’s continued focus on expanding its investment activities in the region and connecting investors with global alternative investment opportunities.
Yusef Al Yusef, Global Head of Distribution at Investcorp, said: “This MOU reflects our continued focus on strengthening connectivity between the Gulf and Asia and expanding access to alternative investments. By looking to potentially combine Investcorp’s global investment capabilities and established regional presence with SGB’s digital banking expertise, we see the potential to enhance our offering to clients and support the continued growth of alternative investments across both markets.”
Ali Moosa, Executive Vice Chairman at Singapore Gulf Bank, said: “A strong investment offering goes hand in hand with the ability to fund investments and settle transactions. Through this MOU, we will explore how SGB’s banking, payment and settlement services can complement Investcorp’s expertise, bringing investment and banking services closer together for clients across Asia and the Gulf.”
